Survival through Perception

Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.”

Albert Camus

If every leaf is a flower
I’m becoming a florist

Life through the eyes of change
Is constantly beautiful

Lune:I will survive

Amid the decay
I was born
It can not touch me

A study in the Journal of Aging Research found that babies born during the autumn months are more likely to live to 100 than those born during the rest of the year.

The tinted pages seasoned by time
Capsule memories forever in their prime

The autumn years colour my view
Of days long gone which return anew

The druids have spoken, the Celts are set
Nominal and logical, what’s the hold up
Haven’t you figured out seasons yet?

We overstep forthcoming transgression
In daily omens the window box wilts
Darkness recounts with curtains draw in lesson
Reclamation cries out the closeted quilts

Kindling sleeps, ample under sodden leaves
The earth supple in willingness to give
The dark months where melancholy grieves
Pad the fissures which dare to live

    1. That’s right. End of the week, end of the series.
I’ve been trying to do more if a wrap on Sundays. Thanks for noticing.
Gald to hear you enjoyed the week. Thanks for reading 🙂

  1. That last poem is a killer! I was just in the closet rummaging through comforters and they were begging me to bring them out (even though Sparky had the AC on in the bedroom)!

    1. Thank you. We finally put blankets back on the beds this week. Along with all the plants dying it inspired much of the weeks final poem.
Homes are well insulated here. Even in winter you can usually walk around the house in shorts.

  2. “Life through the eyes of change / Is constantly beautiful” Love that thought, Mouse. Very optimistic. Also I was glad to know that little factoid about the life span of babies born in autumn. My birthday is in October!

    1. I try to stay optimistic, best state of mind.
My birthday is March but I’m a Southern hemispherian. Not sure if that’s even close to right 🤣
