Cinquain: The Schoolgirl Who Broke Her Leg

I had no problem with Faith in truth.
From what I learned in school,
pain comes from a misspent youth
Regardless, a crutch is a useful tool,
and our girl Faith, was an oblivious fool

Cinquain is a class of poetic forms that employ a 5-line pattern. Created in 11th century France, it now refers to one of several forms that are defined by specific rules and guidelines.

      1. No worries. I welcome it. You added another form of cinquain 😉
We could have a fun comment chain if everyone added a different form

  1. Interesting style, but for me a Cinquain has always been this pattern:
    2 beats
    4 beats
    6 beats
    8 beats
    2 beats
    Today
    I felt the sting
    of loving you too much
    so allergic to loneliness
    I died

    1. That’s the American version of a cinquain. Created in 1915 I think, by Slaterly? I’d have to double check that. I’ve written a few of those too.
Maybe I’ll do a week of American versions of classic poetry forms.
