The Wind

The higher winds
carry and disperse
the final ashes
of man and beast alike


The Worm

Nine out of ten worms
can not tell
the difference between
a peasant and a king


The Lamb

A young lamb chews on cud
And then
proceeds to choke
on another mouthful of fresh grass


Naani means “an expression of one and all”. The stanza form was introduced by Dr. N. Gopi, an administrator at the Teluga University.

The elements of the Naani are:

Written in any number of quatrains.
With a total syllable count of between 20 and 25 syllables.
