Live Each Day As If It Were Your Last

This year I plan to follow the wise words:
Live each day as if it were your last.

So…
I’m heading to the hospital
I’m going to find myself a comfy hospital bed
And hook myself up to a dozen machines
(hopefully I can find the one that goes ‘ping’)
I’ll start taking all sustenance through an IV
I’m gonna pee in a bag, poop in one too
Beat myself about the head to simulate memory loss, dementia, coma.
Then I’ll lay back
(Because I probably won’t be able to move anymore)
And wait for the inevitable end

  1. ROFL!
I was thinking when I saw the title “if I lived each day like I knew it was my last, it probably would be very soon – because I’d do all the silly and dangerous things that I don’t do, to ensure that it isn’t my last day!”. But then I read your take on it, and thought “yeah, that’s about right too”. I’ve always thought it was very foolish advice.

    1. Foolish indeed. I’ve thought about your interpretation as well. Doesn’t make much sense if you think about it in depth.
It’s not advice you could follow for more than a few days. Reality, work, bills, the law, would step in and put an end to it.
