Life’s True Passion

I lay with languor down by the brook
Listening closely to the tune of the trees
The faint rustle of leaves gently shook
Sends music ringing on the autumn breeze

The banks are lined with cherry blossom
Linking branches over the sheltered stream
Delicate petals descend as feathery flotsam
That touch the water like drops of cream

The branches shrug and brace for cold
Answering to natures timely call
Knowledge grows as seasons unfold
Revealing life’s true passion for renewal
