“I think that I cannot preserve my health and spirits unless I spend four hours a day at least – and it is commonly more than that – sauntering through the woods and over the hills and fields, absolutely free from all worldly engagements.”

Henry David Thoreau

Slowly you wander through the day,
Amidst the paths where shadows play,
Underneath a sky of tranquil blue,
Nature’s remedy guiding you,
Time slows down, each moment clear,
Every step, let the world steer,
Revel in the calm, sincere.

        …in quiet repose
          moments drift like autumn leaves
soft whispers of time
                                      a serene day’s gentle flow
     life’s sweet leisure gently known

Origin
late Middle English (in the sense ‘to muse, wonder’): of unknown origin. The current sense dates from the mid 17th century.

You can muse on this
Are you taking a slow walk
Or just walking slowly?

I will wonder
what’s taking you so long
Until I see you walking in slow-motion

Reading without purpose is sauntering, not exercise.

Edward Bulwer-Lytton

…..i’ve read this sentence
                                          about a tree
               three
       times
                                     i’m wandering around in circles
                                        .   .    …..now
AGAIN…..
                     Losing focus
                                                              I ask myself

   What did I just read?

World Sauntering Day is celebrated annually on June 19th. The holiday was created in 1979 by W.T. Rabe in response to the growing popularity of jogging. The idea behind the day was to encourage people to slow down and appreciate the world around them.

I’ve created
A way to get out of
Jogging
You go outside and look around

and…

…and that’s it

Sauntering is just walking with attitude.

There once was a man named Fred,
Who was trapped in his own busy head,
“Take it easy,” he’d cheer,
As he lounged with a beer,
Now he naps more than he goes to bed.

Slow down, savor life—
The world waits for those who wander.

Take It Easy

Well, I’m a-runnin’ down the road tryna loosen my load
I’ve got seven women on my mind
Four that wanna own me, two that wanna stone me
One says she’s a friend of mine
Take it easy, take it easy
Don’t let the sound of your own wheels drive you crazy
Lighten up while you still can
Don’t even try to understand
Just find a place to make your stand
Take it easy
Well, I’m a-standin’ on a corner in Winslow, Arizona
Such a fine sight to see
It’s a girl, my Lord, in a flatbed Ford
Slowin’ down to take a look at me
Come on, baby, don’t say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet love is gonna save me
We may lose and we may win
Though we will never be here again
So open up, I’m climbin’ in
So take it easy
Well, I’m a-runnin’ down the road tryna loosen my load
Got a world of trouble on my mind
Lookin’ for a lover who won’t blow my cover
She’s so hard to find
Take it easy, take it easy
Don’t let the sound of your own wheels make you crazy
Come on, baby, don’t say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet love is gonna save me
Ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh
Oh, we got it easy
We oughta take it easy
