Rowboats to Rainbows

Starting Point:
Row to the Island

I row to the island for the last time. In sight of the shore I relinquish the oars to the waves and bound from the boat into the warm, waist deep water.
The boat makes land with a whooshing sound of acceptance in the sand. Later, I will decide its fate, firewood or shelter, now I must claim my birthright.
This is my island, it is me, and I am the island.

No man is an island
Except the man who wishes to be
Or the man exiled to be
Or the islands named after men
Can women be islands?
Have I missed the point completely?

Missing the point
Is not always bad
Shading adds definition
Whereas the point
Can only
seperate black from white

six random words

Waving in monochrome I see colour

Skittles
Taste the rainbow
(It’s not acid, just really good candy)

Google search: how high do I need to be to taste colours?
Answer: Very. Unless you have synesthesia.

Weekly Theme:
Train of Thought

I asked friends and family for a starting point and followed the train.

  1. Billy says he’s got synesthesia. Sees yellow every time he hears ‘Mellow Yellow’. Another comment you gotta respond to. Sorry ’bout that……..

      1. Seriously I feel for you and all the responses required. You will get so popular….
That’s why Billy is just happy with 6 loyal followers. With just half hour online response/chat time with his friends that gives him sufficient time for bedtime story (read by mummy)……is sensible is Billy

      2. I do too. I don’t want to shut off comments, but it’s looking like it’s heading that way.
Maybe I could shut it down completely and cap my followers at 6 šŸ¤” that’s a thought.
        I miss bedtime stories.

      3. Have to teach them to read first. Still a few years away. I’m looking forward to the scary stuff. My wife refuses to watch anything close to horror.

      4. Must admit I don’t like horror much. Been looking at some Victorian pics. Possibility for posts. Tell you what some would give you nightmares. I didn’t realise they were into such grotesque stuff. It surprised me but must have been the fashion then. No, I won’t be using any for posts……

      5. Feel free to send me a few of the more nightmare inducing pics šŸ‘
They certainly had a lot of time to experiment back then, and experiment they did.
Halloween is just around the corner, dont be so quick to dismiss.

  2. Synesthesia is rare but artists and creative folks have a higher likelihood of experiencing it. I see red with the number 5. My sister is more of one than me – she gets taste and smell with certain words….

    1. Interesting. I also have a few colour/smell/texture/word associations. I don’t think it’s anything with a special title, just quirks of my particular body.
From what I’ve read, true synesthesia can be like an acid trip.
