Your prison cell
an abyss
When barred
shed light
Dare to venture
The great escape
The most pathetic person in the world is someone who has sight but no vision.
Helen Keller
What the eye
may see
For many
Mirrored
Adored
Self-assured
That sight
Will be
Nothing
beyond ‘me’
In 1904, Helen become the first person who was deaf and blind to earn a college degree.
Early
Hardships
Endured
By degree
Clarity
Of when is then
And not granted
But taken
Although the world is full of suffering, it is full also of the overcoming of it
Helen Keller
What nature of cause
A matter of attitude
Perceive suffering as conquerable
Overcome with gratitude
Everything has its wonders, even darkness and silence, and I learn, whatever state I may be in, therein to be content.
Helen Keller
A clear sense of state
Within and around
Walking through the darkness
With feet on the ground
Helen Keller Day
Helen Adams Keller was an American author, disability rights advocate, political activist and lecturer. Born in West Tuscumbia, Alabama, she lost her sight and her hearing after a bout of illness at the age of 19 months.
Helen Keller Day is a commemorative holiday to celebrate the birth of Helen Keller, observed on June 27 annually. The holiday observance was created by presidential proclamation in 2006, as well as by international organizations, particularly those helping the blind and the deaf.
Wow! Miss Keller gained a lot of wisdom from the adversity she had endure. This quote in particular stood out to me:
“Everything has its wonders, even darkness and silence, and I learn, whatever state I may be in, therein to be content.”

I honestly don’t know how she did it and I just read all about it.
It was a great deal of trouble narrowing it down to these quotes. That particular one was the first I chose.

Love the title in Braille! Helen Keller Day indeed! She was among the top of the top since only 19% of all women attended college in 1900 and only a fraction of those earned degrees other than their Mrs.!!

Thanks! Had to give the post a little twist.
That’s a fascinating fact! Also a disappointing one. But one that further compounds the extreme effort and talent of the one and only Helen Keller!

I also love this title by the way. Don’t know what it means because I don’t know Braille, but I think it is great that you wrote it that way.
