Self Inflicted Wounds

Can anything be sadder than work left unfinished? Yes, work never begun.

Christina Rossetti

Pickled Thoughts:

Why am I so thirsty?
I was up all night drinking

Breaking news

Here’s the latest, history repeats itself

That flash was your life
passing you by
Or maybe it was a bus,
you wouldn’t know
Maybe get off your phone
And pay attention

I was uptight
That was alright
I had a job to do
And you knew it too
You gave me the task
Now have nerve to ask
Is that all you got
I'm afraid not
I'm a frayed knot

Deaf Jimmy Walker Quote:

I have a lot of stories to YELL because I’ve been down a lot of loud roads people haven’t been.

Your parents didn’t beat you as a child?
So how old were you
when you finally realised
the people who say they love you
hurt you the most?

Haiku: kill or be killed

surrounded by threat
killer bee in a sandstorm
the sting never lands

Weekly Theme:
Unfinished Work

I’ve rummaged through previously unfinished work with fresh eyes in an attempt to clear the clutter.

  1. That little poem about the phone is perfection! My grown sons have a nasty habit of bringing theirs to the table during meals. After being fixed with a withering stare they go back into pockets…..

    1. It is a problem I have. solely because I do all my writing on my phone.
Not looking forward to my kids having phones. My oldest is bad enough when he gets his hands on mine.

      1. That’s the magic of poetry. The poet may have intent – or not…or forget…but the reader will translate it uniquely, regardless 🙂
