There is More Than One Flower

To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow.

Audrey Hepburn

Couplet:
Hold firm, hold hope before you wilt
See a final seed carried in the silt

The bouquet screams in fear
Having found hidden in a drawer
A bag of potpourri

Haiku:
strict weather will school
nurseries of baby buds
born in greenhouses

Quatrain: One flower girl

Roses are red
There are other flowers too
But they aren’t important
Only roses for you

(I could go on. I barely scratched the surface)

I brought you plain
And self-raising
I thought
it was cute and clever
You said
You want to bake up

The hippy
And his infamous
Flower power
Little did they know
This toxicologist
Could kill them with a single petal

Lune:
How does the bee love?
The flower
Is but a mistress

Floral
Arrangements
On a calendar
Cause confusion

Cut you
Tie you
Put you
In a vase
Just
So I can
Watch you die
slowly

Time Limit Posts

I asked each of my children for the first word that came to mind. I spent 5 minutes brainstorming then 15 minutes shaping what came to mind.

Word of the day: Flowers

    1. Thank you. I did have to veto a few words, kids will be kids.
I probably could have easily written a post about bum but I thought I should probably set an example for once.

  1. I very much enjoyed the gentle sado-masochism in this poem, Mouse. The flowers nightmare of pot pourri, and especially the very last poem. Pruning the beauty to watch it die, indeed. Also, glad you added that good old classic Every Rose has its Thorn on the list 🙂

    1. This was a bit of a mixed bag of potpourri of a post. not entirely sure where my head was.
I love that song!!! Along with Seal that’s what made me think of the slew of rose related songs.
