Sanity in Imagination

I try to maintain a healthy dose of daydreaming to remain sane.”

Florence Welch
A ship
In a kiddie pool
Swells
With imagination

I wrote a poem
and told you it was Bukowski
You said it was brilliant
I read you a Bukowski
And told you I wrote it
You said I need more practice

Ants scurry from my sleeves
First tens, then hundreds
They settle into formations
Where my hands touch the ground
I raise a single finger, they march
And return with an assortment of treats

The bag is heavy
But
I don’t need to take it far
They recently installed
A new
trash chute
It will be weeks
Before they find it
If they find it
At all
By then
No one will be able
to trace
It back to me

Imagination strikes
I leave
In search of an ice pack

Recent research has shown that daydreaming, much like nighttime dreaming, is a time when the brain consolidates learning.

Reading self-help books
I’ve discovered
Disorders
I never realised I had

Escher drums
His thumbs
And I fall up stairs
As the box spins
He stares

I watch a grasshopper
Meditate
He asks
If I would like to buy some pot

A closed ecology
No longer exists
In eulogy

  1. It may be time to feature another one of your posts on my blog. Let me know your thoughts. I would love to collaborate on bringing a poem of yours to video. Kevy Michaels – https:KevyMichaels.Blog

      1. Give me some time, but I will definitely publish a post featuring you within the next few posts. I attend to the blog on an eratic part time basis. But I like your works. Let me review your blog and get the juices flowing. Regards Kevy

      2. No worries. I’m in no rush. If you find something you like that fits, feel free.
One cut back myself recently but I’m here most days still.
