The strength of an ant
The bite of a leech
The flap of a butterfly wing
A change within reach
A change through deprivation
Avail, you mortal abashed
Morals and emulation
End tortured, lashed
Sensory deprivation
Opens minds
Our world holds closed
Depravity and corruption
Combated with deprivation
Inevitably it ends…
In eruption

Lost Phone
I lost my phone, which held weeks of posts and other material.
I have little time to catch up with my schedule so this week will be filled with a disorderly assortment of whatever comes to mind.
Beautifully written. And the monkey in the image reminds me of phantom of the opera.

Thank you.
Just missing the organ to make the picture complete.

Wasn’t it a cymbal? I can’t remember. But I do remember to keep may hand at the level of my eyes.

🤣 it was! I don’t know why, I was thinking of the phantom as a monkey.

Wait…what?
The monkey was a little cymbal smashing toy that Raul gave Christine and then left at the Opera House….wasn’t it?
OMG! It’s been too long since I’ve seen anything that I’m starting to forget things that I used to remember!

I thought it was sold, that’s all I remember 🤔 I haven’t seen it in the longest time.
Guess I have some viewing for the weekend.

I think your right. It started with the sale and ended with it. The toy monkey came up for auction and that’s where the whole play took place. Then it ended with Raul taking the monkey because it reminded him of Christine.
Between the two of us, we may just be able to remember all of it in little drops and drab’s LOL 😂

I can’t offer much. You seem to have the majority in memory.
But I’ll happily call it a team effort and coast on your coattails 🤣

You’re selling yourself short! If it weren’t for your contributions I would remember none of it 🤣😂

Hey, any memory is good memory. I don’t remember what I had for breakfast but you jsut made me remember bits of phantom I forgot that I forgot!

Memory is funny like that. My kids trigger my own memories of childhood on a daily basis.

I just have a weird thing where my short-term memory is bullocks, but my long term memory is exceptional. So I can’t remember anything that happened in the last three months, but everything before that I remember in uncanny accuracy. It’s just weird. I’ve been on vacations and completely forgotten them within two days of getting back, and then 3 months later I remember just a bit of them, but then someone triggers me by reminding me of just one thing that we ate and I can describe the food, table, restaurant, city, and then from there the entire vacation step by step. I’ve always been like that. And once I remember I don’t forget again. I may get rusty, but it comes back with a simple prompt. Unless I’m trying to remember it for myself. Then I’ll go insane because it will never come lol

That’s an interesting mental makeup.
Sona three month black hole where people can mess with you 🤣
I’m imagining that Dori scene in finding Nemo where it all clicks. Anything like that?
LikeLike
I don’t know the scene, but probably. People do mess with me, but I can respond. My short term memory isn’t so bad that I forget everything within four seconds LOL but there are times were I get RE-angry at someone for doing something 3 months after it’s done 🤣😂

So in other words you are like a dynamite stick leaking nitroglycerin 😂

Sometimes. But mostly I remember that I was already mad at them and gave them a good yelling-at at the time, so I just seethe quietly until the feeling of “I can’t believe they did X to me!” goes away. Truthfully. sometimes it’s harder than others, but I’ve also become so used to my brain that it’s fairly easy to forgive and “forget” pretty easily. Once remembered I have a hard time forgetting, but I forgive and therefore it only pops in there when something is re-triggered along the same vein.
But I like being a dynamite stick leaking nitroglycerine – that’s amazing! Best description of how I can be sometimes that I’ve ever heard!

I’m sure we all have a few things we wish we could let go.
I think your mind could create some amazing nonlinear stories. Momento or Mulholland Drive style.
Obviously when you aren’t living the stories yourself.

I write fiction, and I also have a long life behind me. i could most certainly write that with what I have. The issue is that oddly, my brain likes linear when I write. So I would have to do it in chapters, where each chapter is linear in itself and then next chapter non-linear compared to chapter before and following. Or have a LOT of flashbacks. Certainly a challenge I may attempt at some point (if I remember….) but right now I think my brain isn’t down for that. We shall see though.

I love the flashback idea. Really keep them guessing.
Glad we have this all written down in a thread, you can come back and read it when you get fuzzy 😉

Delightful poems – I can tell you are suffering the loss and perhaps entering the anger stage of grief? I’m still holding out hope for the lost. My son lost his but had turned on the “locator” feature and he was able to track it – turned out it was in the back seat of his friend’s car. Phone recovered!!

I have the phone but it’s smashed. Probably should take it to the store to see what can be done. I don’t know why I’m waiting.
Lucky for your done 👍

I am so pleased you’ve got it….but why ‘smashed’ ? or is that some jargon I haven’t caught up with?….You’re lucky it didn’t fall out the canoe and get drowned in that lake….
Why have I got a fetish about your phone?…..

The screen is smashed, happened in transit. That is why I’m hoping the contents are still okay.
It was just juhannus here, nine absolutely smashed people fell out of boats/canoe and drown Inna single weekend. Happens every year.
I think my phone will be on your mind longer than on mine 🤣

Having looked up juhannus I now understand. Seems things go a bit wild up there in the northern climes. Guess it’s the weather. Sends you silly.
You’re right, I am still in a period of deep grief over your phone. But I’ll come out of it. Skip’s helping me drink away the gloom…hic

Normally summer lasts about 2 weeks so it’s no holds barred.
We’ve had a month of plus 20, I expected it to be more reserved. Guess not.
Maybe you should impulse buy yourself a new phone, give the old one to Skip 👍

I’ve had Google switch on my phone in my pocket a few times 😂

Change through deprivation reminded me a bit of that primal scream thing for some reason. Enjoyed the read.

Thanks Hobbo.
Do you mean the band?

Not really, I meant the concept of letting out a so called primal scream to help heal yourself. Lennon was into it at one time.

Ah. I understand.
By a strange coincidence I came across this the other day.
It’s called Flogstavralet or the Flogsta roar, and it’s a decades-old tradition with university students in a specific cluster of student housing in Stockholm, Sweden. The roar happens every night at 10 p.m. when the students open their windows and scream into the night to relieve the pressure of the day.

That is really interesting, just glad I don’t live in Flogsta! Thanks mouse. 🙂

Jeez M, why do i always get distracted ? First the phone, now your mention of Primal Scream. Is this a characteristic of Aussies? Had to investigate. Gotta be a heavy-metal band…. surely I was pleasantly surprised.

Great band, that least they were. I haven’t listened to them in years.
