Flash 666

I feel it, like pre-consternation, like a special kind of pessimism, the reccurring theme that scripts my life. I think this and stare into the emptiness.
Why is there never milk left when it’s my turn?

The child appeared concerned.
“That sound, I’ve heard it before.”
“Oh, yes?” The father replied, an eyebrow raised.
“Yes.”
It was early spring and the frogspawn was beginning to twitch as the watchful frogs continued to croak.
The child cocked her head to the left, an endearing trait perhaps inbuilt or just as likely, gleaned from the family cat.
“Maybe, there’s a frog in my butt.”

  1. There is neever any milk when it is my turn and as I get older I understand the concept of frogs living in peoples buts.

I plan in future to have a week of poetry forms I’ve created, distant future 😉

      1. I didn’t have any jokes today 🤔

Sometimes Tuesdays can be more of a pain in the arse than mondays.
Didn’t Scotland have a nil all draw with England the other day? Thought you would ride that for weeks.
        Feel better 😘💚

  3. Oh my! I had to chuckle about the butt frog! This week’s line-up looks to be very promising – I’m looking forward to seeing what mayhem you have up your sleeve!

  4. Byerter a nutty frog than Tree Frog that look like Bird Poop

Nature can be pretty strange and animals looking like poop to avoid being eaten certainly fits the bill. We’ve had the good fortune to work with 2 such species at Josh’s Frogs – Theloderma asperum and Hyla marmorata. Both frogs come from tropical rainforest (T. asperum from Vietnam, H. marmorata from South America) and have the color and texture of bird poop! The fact that both animals, from opposite sides of the globe, protect themselves from predators by the same means is pretty incredible!

    1. That is fascinating. I’ve seen any number of insects disguise themselves as branches, leaves, etc, but that leaves them open to consumption.
Disguised as shit however, they would be less likely to be eaten. Genius!

    1. This was my old format. Every week for over half a year. I was just doing a week for old times sake.
I noticed your new workshop. How’s it going?
I noticed the likes, thank you. I’m not here as much these days. Work and family commitments take up most of my day.

      1. My workshop is amazing. Everyone is enthusiastic, sends me their haiku to go over and or revise–then we discuss in the workshops. I am learning so much by teaching and reborn into a Haijin. I was totally into tanka and not doing very much haiku. Haiku is the most challenging form of poetry for me. It’s either amazing, insightful or just an Okay. I’m also teaching about the history, the guidelines but it’s the interaction and sharing I enjoy most. I’ll post some student work soon.

      2. That’s wonderful that your are getting as much out of it as you are putting in.
I like forward to seeing the fruits of your labour.
