Poetry is an echo, asking a shadow to dance.
Carl Sandburg
We meet in the dark
Though we never touch
We feel the others presence

Bathroom Plath
Two minds cause
The head to spin
Hands raised I ask
Why am I here?
I lean into the mirror
I run my tongue
over the sheen coating my teeth
The magic carpet slips
And I lose my feet
The bathroom a swirl
Dark claws like branches
creep over my shoulders
My thoughts trace back
Why am I here?
And then I land
There
Hidden
Is my answer
Fallen
under the vanity
The missing toothbrush
Ekphrasis
There’s no established form for ekphrastic poetry. Any poem about art, whether rhymed or unrhymed, metrical or free verse, may be considered ekphrastic.
As a poet I would say everything should be able to come into a poem but I can’t put toothbrushes in a poem. I really can’t.

On an unrelated note, this is the 1000th twisting tail post.
Thank you to everyone who has stopped in along the way.
I appreciate you all.

Congrats!
If you decide to start Plathing in the bathtub, make sure you don’t get the floors too wet.

Thanks.
All good. I keep my Plathing confined to the kitchen.
I posted a question on Facebook a while back, would a range of Plath oven timers and meat thermometers be a good idea. It was not well recieved.

Many thanks Steve
You are a star
I can’t believe
I’ve come so far
To many more
I have in store
And you have too
Best I got. I’ll leave it to the professional 😉

There’s people who get paid to write this stuff? 😄 I don’t think I’ve written 1000 poems yet (let alone ha’sonnets) and here you’ve already posted that many very good ones. I’m looking forward to enjoying many, many more! 👍 😁

Surely there must be 🤣
Quality over quantity my friend 😉
You will have 1000 pieces if solid gold soon enough.
I’ve had a very productive couple of years. Surprising, considering I hadn’t written much of anything in almost 15 years.
I’ll try not to disappoint. Thanks for sticking with me 👍

I may get them written, but at two postings a week it will be eight more years until I hit the WordPress notification. I’m fine with that. 🙂
Since quality counts over quantity, you must have a interesting trash bin, Mr Mouse. 😁 I look forward to your next 1000.

You can always post more 😉
I know what you mean. I’ve been thinking of dialing back. I’ve already accomplished more than I expected.
There are a ridiculous number if files and notes littered about the place. Luckily the kids can’t read yet so they don’t think me mad 🤣
If I can manage another 1000 I would be shocked.

Hey, dial back if you have to. But don’t stop writing because it is hard to restart. And your children will think you odd no matter what because it’s part of being a parent, so don’t let that stop you. 😄
Posting twice a week is comfortably sustainable for me. I did more than that at first and started stressing. Of course, that was also before I learned how to schedule posts. 🙂 Now if I can’t come up with something new as happens some weeks I have at least a three year cushion of poems I can select from to just schedule.

That is true. I won’t stop writing entirely, I just won’t write here.
I’ve instilled my weirdness within them so I have the chance of looking normal later 😂
I understand the pressure. I have a four week buffer but the stress of staying ahead is getting to me.

Nice work my friend – Plath would be proud 👍 Did you ever get round to reading The Bell Jar again yet?
And huge congratulations on your 1000th post! Always knew you had it in you! 😁😁🖤

I think she would be pissed 🤣
Still haven’t read it 😏
Thank you. The only reason I put the announcement in is because you made me 😜💚
Have you hit 2000 yet?

Ach, sure you’ll get round to reading it some day…
Who knew I had such influence over you Mr Mouse! 🤣
You thoroughly deserve all the plaudits you’ve gotten here – it’s not just me who looks forward to your posts! 👍
I’m somewhere around 1,800 I think so still a way to go to the 2k. I’m thinking of winding down after that…there’s only so long you can flog the proverbial dead horse…
We’ll see… 👍😉🖤

It’s on the list, so it will be read.
I don’t normally post any milestones but I promised you I would 😉
Thank you. You’ve always been one of my greatest supporters.
As long as I look forward to writing them and there is someone to read they will keep coming 😊
So I made it in time. I think you post at least twice a day, so you are skipping further away from me.
I was considering scaling back as well. Give myself time to work on other projects.
Let’s see where we both are in a few months 😉💚

And as for any praise I give it is truly meant my friend. I know Charmer is in my name – but, all banter aside, I would only say what I truly mean

Thank you for all the kind words my little lass 💚

You went where Plath wouldn’t, well done. Wow 1,000 rhymes, lines and rarely used forms, you keep us coming back. I’ll stop or your head won’t fit through the door. 😁😉💙

Thank you, very kind of you to say.
I do love a challenge.
I’m still surprised that people come back. Don’t worry I have a healthy amount of self doubt to keep me in check 😉💚

I read “Daddy” quite a few years ago and kind of backed away from her work. That was probably unfair and I need to read her work with fresh eyes.
Anyway, no Plathitudes here: congrats on your milestone!

No, that isn’t a pleasant read.
Her poetry has a bit if everything. That range is what I enjoy most.
Thank you for the congrats. Nice to see you back here on WordPress 👍

Perhaps you can ask Miss Hobbo what would make her smile 😏
