Pass, Abstain, Over

Remember that you are dust,
and to dust you shall return

Burn the palms
Saved for today
Brush the forehead
Remember Ash Wednesday

The first day of fasting
I realise nothing could be slower.

Pass

A signal for the chosen
As Yahweh commands
A ritual performed by the people
That the final plague demands

That which is taken at a glance
With a single lamb the price
An innocent offer to appease
And serve as sacrifice

Strokes of the hyssop shrub
Lintels painted blood red
By holy grace the passage safe
While the city wails for the dead

Over

Chag Sameach

Abstinence makes the heart grow fonder.
You should feel privileged to know
you’re an exception to a rule.

Lent

To go without
To feed within
Six weeks the price
For mortal sin

Easter Tip for Kids:

If you ever see a bunny dropping little brown eggs, don’t eat them.

  1. Nicely done, traditions of religious belief. 💜
I don’t think my doggies know that, it’s hard to keep them of the trail!! 😅 but I try.
