Rondel: The Shining Penny

When I found the shining Penny
I knew my dreams had all come true
I looked no more because I knew
My penny worth more than any

The world is full of so many
But all I need in life is you
When I found the shining Penny
I knew my dreams had all come true

You are always right beside me
And I am always beside you
No matter what we may go through
I knew how life was meant to be
When I found the shining Penny

A rondel is a verse form originating in French lyrical poetry of the 14th century. It was later used in the verse of other languages as well, such as English and Romanian.

  1. I’ve always shied away from the Rondel and the Rondeau because the refrains gave me fits. Now that I’ve read this delightful one I may need to push myself to give this form another try…

    1. You are too kind, I consider myself more of a diligent student. I’ve found the theme helps me focus, otherwise my mind races off in a dozen different directions.

  2. You are also very humble– as Zen master Suzuki says–“A beginners mind”. I just got a scholarship through “Lions Roar” to take a beginners mind workshop. I will share what I learn with you. In Gassho, Jeanne
