Children’s Rhyme: I Like Cake

“So you like cake, do you?”
“Yes I do.”
“What kind do you like, name one or two.”
“Oh, I can name more than two.
I like sponge cakes, cheesecakes, chocolate cakes, birthday cakes.
Cupcakes, pancakes, patty cakes, layer cakes.
Shortcakes, flat cakes, pound cakes, hot cakes.
Fruit cakes, bundt cakes, teacakes, coffee cakes.
Oil cakes, cream cakes, butter cakes, ice cream cakes.
Fish cakes, beef cakes, carrot cakes, and potato cakes.”
“Wow! That’s quite a list.”
“I’m sure there’s some I missed.”
“No, no. That was fine. A much longer list than mine.”
“So, since you asked, there must be a reason. Cake better be coming or I’m calling treason!”

Happy National Sponge Cake Day!

    1. Thank you!
Sure, can’t go past red velvet. Thought about that while writing.
I haven’t had a potato cake since I was in oz, long time now.
9-18, is also National day for cheeseburgers and first lovers. Big day!
