Into The Fae

By way of the will-o’-the-wisps at night
Through enchanted forest and meadow
I am lead astray following spectral light
To the marshes that fuel their glow

Distant church bells, four-leaf clover
Missing mother’s protective charms
clothing inside out, made over
Without ward, a gift into their arms

Warnings not to barter with health
Wealth a namely price of disguise
He stood, small statured against myself
But I saw straight in those fairy eyes

I saw the creature’s penchant for trickery
And knew they held the life and death of me
