Deep Seeded Comeuppance

“‘No one will tell me what I can and can not do! And that includes what I eat.’ The President shouted, and he swallowed the remaining pieces whole, leaving nothing for the party.”

“He sounds mean, Grandpa.”

“Oh, he was, very mean and stupid, you mustn’t forget stupid. A few days later he complained of pain. His tummy ballooned big and round. His otherwise orange complexion turned green. Vines and leaves started growing out of everywhere. Then, when he had grown so full of himself, Bang! He exploded and watermelon rained down all over the city. And that is why on this day each year we give thanks to the watermelon.”

“Grandpa, I don’t think I want to eat watermelon anymore.”

Happy International Watermelon Day!

Were you told as a child not to eat watermelon seeds?

      2. I have to now, I’m curious.
I heard they have cyanide like apples and cherries, but you would probably have to eat some ridiculous amount, say 10 large watermelons worth for any symptoms. So I’ll cap it at 8 melons to be safe 😉
