The Hole

I got

Nineteen days

in the hole

No light,

no sound but for

My own shallow breath

Meal times separated

night and day

Until I lost track

I paced

My only bearings

Four walls

The panic took me

Like a trapped rat

I burrowed into each surface

To escape

I lost my finger nails

with my sanity

I was in a solid box

Man

was never meant for these confines

By what I estimate

was day three

I feared

I’d gone

Blind

In the days that passed

My minds eye

Create images

Beyond daydreams

I saw

I created

a new world

Beyond this prison

Beyond bars

And locked doors

My life changed

In those days

A

Realisation

Crystallized

We create this world

with our senses

Which makes

Man’s only prison

his mind.
